Paparazzi?

Many couples seem to be of two minds about wedding photos. Either they already know they'll love having them done, or they're nervous about having them done (usually because one or both of them hates having their photo taken period).

So with this in mind, talk to your photographer about how you feel about photos, most especially about the kinds of photos you hope to get. And speak up about how you feel regarding flash, particularly if too much of it gives you migraines.

Ideally a photographer will blend into the background. This is relatively easy to do if you want mostly candid shots and your wedding is outdoors during daylight hours. Click click click is not very noticable. Add in a flash, and the photographer's presence becomes more visible. (However, not always as visible as you might think, since generally there are at least half a dozen others at the wedding with a flash as well.)

From what I've seen, the best photos seem to happen when the photographer is treated (and acts) like part of the family. (Assuming you have a nice family!) This is because everyone is relaxed and having fun. You'll also be happier with your photos if your goals are explained to your photographer, and any potential trade-offs based on what making your wishes happen would entail are clear ahead of time.
